Shopian, May 21: Five persons were injured, two of them seriously, after a Swift car skidded off the road and fell into a ditch near Dungimarg at Peer Ki Gali in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday, officials said.
The accident involved a Swift car bearing registration number JK12D-2286.
According to initial reports, the vehicle met with the accident near Dungimarg along the Peer Ki Gali stretch after losing control and plunging into a roadside ditch.
Five persons travelling in the car sustained injuries in the mishap.
Officials said two of the injured suffered serious injuries while three others received minor injuries.
The accident triggered a rescue response in the area as local people and emergency responders rushed to the spot to evacuate the injured from the damaged vehicle.
The identities of the injured and details regarding their medical condition were not immediately available.
Police and concerned authorities were expected to ascertain the exact circumstances leading to the accident.
