Srinagar, April 5: Rain and snowfall are likely across Jammu and Kashmir on April 7 and 8, with authorities warning of thunderstorms, hailstorms, and gusty winds that may impact normal life in several areas.

According to the weather update, wind speeds are expected to reach 40–50 km/h during the period, accompanied by thunder activity and intermittent precipitation across the region.

The forecast indicates that weather conditions are expected to worsen on April 8, which is likely to witness more intense activity, including thundershowers and stronger winds in multiple districts.

The expected spell of adverse weather has raised concerns over possible flash floods and landslides, particularly in vulnerable and mountainous areas. Authorities have cautioned that localized disruptions cannot be ruled out during the peak activity period.

Farmers have been advised to take precautionary measures to protect crops and avoid field activities during the period of intense weather. The advisory also urges travelers to plan journeys carefully, especially in areas prone to landslides and waterlogging.

The weather system is expected to affect both plains and higher reaches, with snowfall likely in elevated areas while rainfall dominates in lower regions.

People have been urged to remain alert and follow official advisories as conditions may change rapidly during the two-day period.

The advisory highlights the need for preparedness, particularly in districts where infrastructure and terrain increase vulnerability to weather-related disruptions. [KNT]
