Srinagar, Apr 17 : Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Thursday issued an advisory in view of a Mega Rally under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan being organized by the District Administration Handwara on April 17, 2026, stating that vehicular movement in Handwara town will remain affected during the event.

As per the advisory issued by Sr. Superintendent of Police Traffic Rural Kashmir as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, motorists have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel towards Handwara town on the scheduled date, while traffic will be regulated through designated diversion routes.

According to the advisory, all traffic from Baramulla towards Kupwara shall use the bypass road and will not be allowed to enter main Handwara town.

Traffic coming from Villgam side will be diverted via Kawari Road → Wudpora Bridge towards Kulangam-Handwara and will be directed to use the bypass instead of entering the town.

Similarly, traffic from Rajwar and Zachaldara sides will be allowed to drop passengers near the petrol pump and return without entering the main town area.

Vehicular movement from Kulangam side will not be permitted towards Degree College Road and will instead be routed via bypass to reach the main Bus Stand Handwara.

The traffic police have stated that the advisory has been issued in public interest to ensure smooth conduct of the rally and to minimize inconvenience to commuters. (KNC)
