Doda, Dec 27 : Doda Police have booked two persons in separate incidents for allegedly using VPN applications in violation of prohibitory orders issued by the District Magistrate, police said on Saturday.

As per news agency Kashmir News Corner—(KNC) that on December 27, a police team from Police Post Bhagla Bharth, under Police Station Doda, was on routine patrol duty when it noticed a person using a VPN application on his mobile phone at Bagla Main Market around 1530 hours. During questioning, the individual failed to give a satisfactory explanation and was subsequently taken to the police post for verification.

The person was later identified as Khalid Abrar, son of Mohammad Abdullah Butt, a resident of Bagla Bharth. As the District Magistrate, Doda, has imposed a ban on the use of VPN applications, a case was registered against him. Accordingly, FIR No. 279/2025 under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) was registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation is underway.

In another incident, police spotted another individual, identified as Mohd Irfan, son of Abdul Latief, a resident of Tendla, Tehsil Chilli, using a VPN application at Shali Pul in the Gandoh area. He was also found to be in violation of the District Magistrate’s orders.

Following this, FIR No. 125/2025 under Section 223 BNS was registered at Police Station Gandoh, and further investigation has been initiated.

Doda Police have appealed to the general public to strictly comply with the orders issued by the District Administration and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining law and order.—(KNC)
