Srinagar, Sept 8: Member legislative Assembly Pulwama Waheed Parra strongly condemned the imposition of the Public Safety Act (PSA) on MLA Mehraj Malik, terming it a draconian move to silence political voices.
In a post on X, Parra, as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, wrote that such laws are being weaponised to “crush dissent,” adding that authoritarian measures cannot resolve political differences in a democratic setup.
He said, “Strongly condemn the use of PSA against MLA Mehraj Malik. Such draconian laws are weaponised to silence political voices & crush dissent. Such authoritarian measures are no way to resolve differences in a democracy.”
The Pulwama legislator stressed that democratic dialogue and political engagement are the only viable means to address differences, not repressive measures. (KNC)
