Kupwara, Jun 15 : An elderly woman was killed while two others sustained injuries after an Alto car skidded off the road and plunged into a nearby gorge in the Chowkibal area of Kupwara district, officials said on Sunday late evening.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS that an Alto vehicle bearing registration number DL5CP-6417, skidded off the road near Marsary Chowkibal and fell into a nearby nallah.
In the incident, 75-year-old woman identified as Shamsunissa, wife of Hidayatullah Qureshi and a resident of Bagbella Karnah, suffered critical injuries and died on the spot, officials said.
The body of the deceased has been kept at SDH Kralpora, while further proceedings have been initiated.
The driver and his wife, Zeenat Begum, sustained injuries and were shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kralpora for treatment.
Cognizance of the incident has been taken and further investigation has been taken up. (JKNS)
