Baramulla, July 26 (GNS): A man was injured in a bear attack in the Behak-Natiyan area of Boniyar on Sunday, officials said.
The injured has been identified as Mohd Shareef Sheikh, a resident of Tirkanjan Kangdyal. He sustained injuries after being attacked by a bear in the Behak-Natiyan area.
Officials told GNS that local Army personnel promptly reached the spot, provided first aid to the injured, and assisted in evacuating him to the Primary Health Centre (PHC) Boniyar for medical treatment.
After receiving initial treatment at PHC Boniyar, doctors referred him to the Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla for specialised treatment.
The incident has once again highlighted the increasing instances of human-wildlife conflict in the area, prompting calls for greater vigilance among residents living near forested regions.(GNS)
