Anantnag Elderly Tests Positive Six Days After Death

Srinagar, July 29 (GNS):  A 30-year-old woman who was shifted from LD hospital to SKIMS Bemina was among fourteen more people who died due to covid-19 in Jammu and Kashmir in 24 hours, taking the fatality count due to the virus to 349 in J&K, officials said on Wednesday.

Regarding the young woman, a senior doctor at SKIMS Bemina told GNS that she was admitted on July 14 and was kept in HDU for four days. However, the doctor said, her condition deteriorated and was shifted to ICU where she was intubated and her condition was continuously monitored.

“Yesterday she suddenly had cardio-pulmonary arrest at 5 a.m. CPR was done but she could not be revived and was declared brought dead at 5 a.m. today,” the doctor said.        

Sources said that among new fatalities, three took place at SMHS hospital here this morning and include a 52-year-old woman from Budgam, a 75-year-old woman from Wazirbagh Srinagar and 65-year-old from Baramulla.

Also three deaths were reported at SKIMS Soura today including 65-year-old male Anàntnag, 60-year-old from Lalbazar and 45-year-old from Bandipora.  

 “All three of them had comorbidities with Community Acquired Pneumonia,” a senior doctor at the hospital told GNS.

The quinquagenarian was admitted on July 23 and the septuagenarian on July 27 respectively, the doctor said.

Regarding, the sexagenarian from Baramulla, they said, that he was a resident of Gonipora, Kunzar and was suffering from “T2DM and bilateral pneumonia.”

“He was admitted on July 25 and died at 1330 hours today,” they added.  

Earlier, a 65-year-old woman from Mattan Anantnag died at SKIMS Soura this morning. “She was suffering from pneumonia and hypertension among other ailments,” a senior doctor at SKIMS told GNS. The sexagenarian’s death was the second fatality in less than twelve hours in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district as a 50-year-old man from Katsoo Pahalgam died at SMHS Hospital here. Having “Bilateral pneumonia”, the quinquagenarian was admitted on July 27 and died on the same day. His test returned positive later, officials said.

Also, a 62-year-old man from Zainakadal Srinagar with “bilateral pneumonia” died, two days after admission.

Meanwhile, sources said that sample of a 65-year-old woman from Ranipora Anantnag who had died at her residence on July 23 tested positive.  

Also, sources said, a 79-year-old man from Talab Tillo who was admitted to Chest Diseases Hospital on July 27 after testing covid-19 positive, and referred to the Government Medical College Hospital Jammu other day, passed away. “He was put on ventilator and died last night,” a senior doctor told GNS.

So far 234 deaths have been reported in Kashmir and 25 in Jammu division. Srinagar district with 103 deaths has the highest fatalities followed by Baramulla (67), Kulgam (27), Budgam (25), Anantnag (25), Shopian (20), Kupwara (20), Pulwama (19), Jammu(16), Bandipora (12), Ganderbal (6), two each in Rajouri and Doda and one each in Ramban , Poonch, Udhampur, and Kathua.
