1 Killed, 17 Injured As Passenger Vehicle Meets With Accident in Rajouri

Srinagar: A person was killed and seventeen others injured after a vehicle they were on board met with an accident in Rajouri district on Sunday afternoon.

An official told news agency Kashmir Scroll that a Matador vehicle bearing number JK02M 8723, on the way from Teryath to Pouni, met with the accident at Saryo due to alleged over speeding, rash and negligent driving by the driver.

“A passenger was killed on the site and seventeen others were injured in the accident”, the official said.

The deceased has been identified as Pritam Lal son of Isher Das, a resident of Narla Bambel Khawas Rajouri and the injured as Rakesh Kumar son of Bansi Lal (35) of Thangriote, Mohd Arif son of Mohd Younis (10) of Khorbani, Gulab Jaan wife of Mohd Bashir (45 ) of Bissi Kalakote, Aku Akhter daughter of Gulzar Ahmed (9) resident of Basantpur, Nisha Devi wife of Jagdish Lal (25) of Arnas, Mohd Altaf son of Iqbal (24) of Kala Reasi, Jagdish Lal (30) Arnas Reasi, Mohd Jamil son of Abdul Ghani (37) of Narla, Mohd Sakhi Khan son of Sadhik Khan (54) of Keri Teryath, Maroon Khan son of Mohd Sakhi Khan (7) of Keri Teryath, Indu Devi wife of Joginder Pal (27 ) of Gulabgarh, Joginder Pal son of Baldev Raj (35) of Gulabgarh, Shakuntla Devi wife of Kamal Singh of Keri Teryath, Mamta Devi daughter of Kamal Singh (22) of Keri Teryath, Anu Devi daughter of Kamal Singh (24) of Keri Teryath, Fareena Begum wife of Sakhi and Fullan Begum (60) of Birpur.

Confirming the accident to Kashmir Scroll, a police official said that soon after receiving information a police party was sent to the site.

“Cognisance has been taken into the incident for further investigations”, the official added. (KS)
