Suhail Khan / Jehangir Lolabi Srinagar, April 3 (GNS): Police on Friday claimed to have arrested four associates of Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit in separate raids at Handwara and Sopore areas of north Kashmir. A police officer told GNS that acting on a tip off, a joint team of SOG and army arrested two persons during a raid at Shalpora area of Langate in Handwara last night. He identified the arrested persons as Azad Ahmad Bhat of Shalpora and Altaf Ahmad Baba of Rafiabad. “Two grenades, two pistols, one letter pad of LeT besides other incriminating material were recovered from their possession,” the officer said. In this connection, a case under FIR number 104/2020 under section 7/25 arms act was registered and further investigations taken up, he said. Earlier, police said that two associates of LeT were arrested by government forces at Noorbag area of Sopore. “The raid was carried out by the SOG Sopore and army at Noorbagh area of the apple town last night following specific information. “During the raid two OGWs of the LeT militant outfit were arrested,” he said. The officer identified the arrested duo as Waseem Ahmad Gojri and Junaid Rashid Ganie of Noorbagh, Sopore. “One pistol with magazine, five rounds, one UBGL (launcher), two UBGL (grenades) and other incriminating material were recovered from their possession,” he said. In this connection, a case under FIR number 61/2020 under section 7/25 I Arms Act and 4/5 Explosive Substance Act, 18, 20, 23 Unlawful Activities Act has been registered in police station Sopore and further investigations initiated in this regard.
