Jammu, March 29 (GNS): Amid heavy rains since Friday night, 35 residential houses got damaged due to land sinking at Chanderkote area of Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir last night. Reports reaching GNS said that the houses developed cracks and subsequently got damaged due to continuous sinking of a portion of the land, which started few days ago amid the incessant rains at Dalwas area of Chanderkote. Following the incident, the families fled from their respective homes and have been rendered now homeless, they said. Station House Officer (SHO) Chanderkote Nazir Ahmad told GNS that 35 houses were damaged badly due to the landslides followed by the sinking of land. SHO said that a joint team of police and administration headed by ADC Ramban reached the spot immediately and shifted 40 families to safer places. Meanwhile, the sinking of land creating panic among the residents. The affected families have demanded immediate rehabilitation and proper arrangement.
