Srinagar, April 17 (GNS): Four persons were arrested along with large quantity of codeine phosphate in Shopian district of south Kashmir, police said on Friday. A police officer told GNS that a truck bearing registration number JK01AD-2504 was intercepted by police naka party following a tip off at Habdipora area on Thursday night. During searches, 36 boxes of codeine phosphate were recovered, the officer said, adding that four persons including the driver on board were arrested besides the truck carrying the banned drugs was seized. The officer identified the arrested persons as Ilyas Reshi son of Gh Mohd of Tral Bala, Sajad Mir son of Bashir Ahmad of New Colony Largam, Riyaz Shah son of Ghulam Hassan of Haripora Pulwama and Showkat Khan son of Ali Khan of Newa Pulwama. “In this connection, a case FIR number 61/20 u/s 8/25 NDPS act was registered in police station Shopain and further investigations taken up,” the officer said.
