7 Civilians Injured In Baramulla Grenade Blast

Srinagar, Aug 31 (GNS): Seven civilians were injured in a grenade blast “aimed” by suspected militants at an army convey passing through Baramulla on Monday. There was also abortive attempt to target a police post in the Sopore area of north Kashmir district.   

A police spokesperson said that at about 1315 hours, militants lobbed a grenade near Azadgunj Bridge area of Baramulla over Army convoy which exploded on roadside, resulting in injuries to seven civilians.

All the injured were shifted to the hospital for the treatment, he said .

“Police continues to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime incident,” he said in a statement issued here.

He said a case FIR No. 147/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Baramulla and investigation taken up. The area was cordoned off but no arrests were made when this report was filed, they added.

Meanwhile, the militants made an abortive bid to target police post near bus stand Sopore by firing few fire shots. However, there was no loss of life or property. Soon after the attack, the entire area was cordoned off  but no arrests were made hitherto filing of this report. (GNS)
