Srinagar, May 14: Director Health Services Kashmir, Dr Mushtaq Ahmad Rather on Thursday expressed grief at the death of a Covid warrior in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and expressed sympathy with the bereaved family.

The director in his message prayed for the departed soul and expressed condolence with the bereaved family and said that they are with his family at this time of grief and loss.

Expressing grief the director said he is deeply pained by the loss saying Covid warriors are risking their lives to save people.

A spokesperson of Directorate of Health Services Kashmir identified the health worker as Mohammed Ramzan Magray, S/o Mohammed Sultan Magray a resident of Khanan area of Kangan. The health worker who was Covid positive passed away on Thursday.

“The 42-year-old Covid positive patient was shifted to DH Ganderbal breath last on the way on Thursday at 3:00 am at Panzin Kangan,” the spokesperson said.

The patient was tested positive on 12/05/2021 and was totally asymptomatic having no medical history and had no co-morbidity. He was advised strict home isolation and during night he developed chest pain at 2.30 am and breathed his last at Panzin.

The spokesperson said the deceased health worker was working as Basic Health Worker (BHW) and was working with Covid sampling, vaccination and was involved in performing the last rites and funerals of Covid patients.

His dead body was given a dignified burial at Khanan under proper Covid SOPs in presence of Covid response team of block Kangan .

Meanwhile, the director has hailed the services rendered by the health workers who are risking their lives and are treating patients in hospitals.

“The health workers are our everyday heroes. I appreciate their role they played in this pandemic and are fighting the Covid-19 disease,” director said.

He said that the healthcare workers including doctors, nurses, and paramedics are taking care of hundreds of Covid-19 patients for months after putting their lives at risk.

“They are at the forefront of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic. They are continuously providing high quality care often working without a break,” he said.
