Srinagar, May 17: (GNS) Police on Monday said that it has foiled black marketing of Government rice by seizing illegally procured Government rice in Central Kashmir’s Budgam district.
In a statement issued to GNS, the police said that acting on specific information that one person namely Abdul Rashid Sofi son of Mohammad Jamal Sofi resident of Harda Batapora has illegally procured Government rice and is selling in his private shop at exorbitant rates.
Giving details police spokesperson said that on receipt of this information, Police party from Police Station Budgam raided the said location and recovered five quintals of Government rice from his shop. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR number 136/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Budgam, he said.
Further investigation into the case is going on, reads the statement.(GNS)
