Kulgam, May 29 (GNS): Police on Saturday said that it solved a hit-and-run case in which two persons were killed last evening in south Kashmir.
“Police Post Mirbazar received information that a motorcycle bearing registration No. JK03J-2738 was hit by unknown vehicle resulting grievous injuries to the biker and pillion rider and both are lying on road in unconscious state at Ganjipora on highway area of Mirbazar,” a police spokesman said in a statement to GNS. The driver of the vehicle fled away from spot along with vehicle, he said.
Acting promptly, a police party reached on the spot and found that both the persons were dead and are lying on the road side, he said. They were identified as Shahid Ahmad Malla son of Abdul Rashid Malla and Majid Rashid Ganai son of Abdul Rashid Ganai both residents of Bongund Dooru.
Accordingly, he said, a case vide FIR No. 116/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered in police station Qazigund and a special team under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund was constituted.
“The special team led by I/C PP Mirbazar after strenuous efforts intercepted the involved vehicle (Wagnor Car) bearing registration number JK03G-7799 along with the accused driver from Furra area of Anantnag within three hours after the information was received. He has been identified as Mohd Hussain Tantray son of Abdul Rahim Tantray resident of Furra,” the spokesman said, adding, “He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Vehicle involved in the commission of crime has also been seized.” Further investigation of the case is in progress, the spokesman added. (GNS)
