We pray to the Almighty for blessings, peace and happiness on this propitious occasion!

Today, we are celebrating Eid al Adha- The Eid of sacrifice. The day has been selected as the Day of sacrifice by the Almighty Himself. Prophet Ibrahim (May peace be upon him) was tested by Allah, to sacrifice his son, Isma’il (May peace be upon him) in the path of Allah. The insurmountable faith of the father-son duo made them pass the test. On the other hand, Almighty replaced Ismail’s neck with an animal and thus saved his life. Since then, Qurbani is performed by the Muslims as part of the Sunnah of the Prophet Ibrahim. Eid begins on the tenth day of Dhul-Hijjah and on the same day, the Qurbani days’ begin and can be performed till the thirteenth of the month. Regarding the virtues of sacrifice, The last Prophet of Allah, may peace and blessings be upon him, said,  “For every hair of the Qurbani you will receive a reward from Allah, and for every strand of its wool you will receive a reward.” [Al-Tirmidhi]. The main motive behind this is to become submissive to our creator, as the story of the father -son duo of Prophets teach us. Taqwa (Piety and consciousness of Allah) is the ultimate aim of performing sacrifices. “Their meat will not reach Allah, nor will their blood, but what reaches Him is piety from you. Thus, have We subjected them to you that you may glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and give good tidings to the doers of good“. Qur‘an [22:37]. Nevertheless this day signifies the essence of being a faithful Muslim and glad tidings are for those who submit to but Allah. Eid Mubarak!
