Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir has secured the top position in e-service delivery, boasting an impressive array of 1,117 digital services, according to a report released by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

In stark contrast, Manipur finds itself at the bottom of the list. Other leading states included Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh, and Kerala, showcasing substantial progress in integrating e-services into governance.

The DARPG’s National e-Governance Service Delivery Assessment (NeSDA) Framework served as the benchmarking tool for evaluating states and Union Territories’ performance in delivering e-services. This framework monitored the implementation and progress of e-service delivery.

The disparity in e-service delivery prompted the DARPG to facilitate collaboration between the governments of Manipur and Jammu and Kashmir. This initiative aimed to enhance e-service delivery in Manipur by leveraging the successful practices of Jammu & Kashmir. Through coordinated efforts, senior officials from both states convened for a two-day meeting to devise strategies for improving Manipur’s e-governance infrastructure.

As a result of these collaborative efforts, a comprehensive roadmap was developed to enhance e-service offerings in Manipur. The roadmap outlined plans to expand online service portfolios, focusing on key departments such as Revenue, Home, Industry & Commerce, Social Welfare, PWD, and PHED. This initiative aimed to enhance public service delivery efficiency and significantly increase the number of online services available to citizens.

DARPG Secretary V Srinivas emphasized the significance of digital empowerment and transformation in promoting efficient governance. He highlighted the potential long-term benefits of expanding e-services in Manipur, highlighting the importance of aligning with the successful practices observed in Jammu & Kashmir.
