Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education has formally discontinued the old syllabus for failure and reappear candidates of Classes 10, 11 and 12, and clarified that no further examinations will be conducted under the outdated scheme.

In an official notification, JKBOSE said the validity of the old syllabus has expired under existing regulations. It said students who had failed earlier or were seeking reappearance will not be granted additional chances under the previous course structure.

The Board advised all such candidates to prepare as per the revised syllabus for upcoming annual private and bi annual examinations. These examinations will be held later in the year after completion of the summer zone exams and declaration of annual results.

JKBOSE said the decision has been conveyed well in advance to facilitate a smooth transition for students enrolled under the old syllabus. It said the move will apply to examinations scheduled in 2026 and the years ahead.

Board officials said only a small number of candidates remain under the old scheme and added that the change aims to bring uniformity in assessment and academic standards across the system.
