Srinagar, May 14: Jammu and Kashmir Education Minister Sakina Itoo on Thursday said there was no immediate proposal to shift educational institutions in the Union Territory to online mode.

The minister made the remarks while responding to queries from reporters about the possibility of virtual classes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent appeal for work-from-home practices and austerity measures aimed at fuel conservation.

“There is nothing like that as of now. Let us see,” Itoo said when asked whether the government was considering online classes for schools and other educational institutions.

The statement comes amid widespread speculation over possible administrative measures linked to prevailing economic and supply-related concerns in wake of prevailing crisis in Middle East.
