Srinagar, June 27: The Jammu and Kashmir Government is actively considering announcing summer vacations for schools across the Kashmir Division in view of the prevailing heatwave, with a final decision expected after reviewing the weather conditions, Health and Medical Education Minister Sakina Itoo said on Saturday.

Speaking to reporters, Itoo acknowledged the intense heat being experienced across the Valley and said the government was closely monitoring the situation before taking a final call on the school calendar.

She said summer vacations are important, particularly when prolonged high temperatures affect the health and well-being of students. The minister indicated that the government is examining the prevailing weather conditions and will take an appropriate decision regarding the commencement of the summer break in the coming days.

Her remarks come amid growing public demand for early summer vacations as Kashmir continues to witness unusually high temperatures, prompting concerns among parents, students and teachers.

The government is expected to announce its decision after assessing the weather forecast and consulting the concerned departments
