Police Seizes 06 Vehicles For Illegal Extraction & Transportation Of Minor Minerals In Ganderbal, Shopian

July 04: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and transportation of minerals, Police in Ganderbal & Shopian seized 06 Vehicles involved in illegal extraction of Minor Minerals in the jurisdiction of PS Safapora, PS Kheerbawani, Police Post Shadipora & PS Keller.

In Ganderbal, 04 vehicles including two Tata Mobiles and two tippers were found extracting and transporting mining material without valid authorization, in violation of the prescribed norms. Accordingly, these vehicles were seized on the spot and the matter was taken up with the concerned Geology & Mining Department, which subsequently imposed the requisite fine under the relevant provisions of law.

Meanwhile, Police in Shopian during routine patrolling in the JD of PP Berthipora seized two tractors involved in illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, a case FIR No. 68/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Keller and investigation has been set into motion.

Police reiterated its commitment to curb illegal mining activities in the district and urged the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in protecting natural resources. Strict action will continue against those found indulging in such unlawful practices.
