Shopian July 6 (GNS): District Magistrate Shopian Shishir Gupta has imposed a complete ban on bursting of firecrackers and fireworks in the district after 10:00 PM under Section 163 of Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita 2023

The order issued on today, the DM said late night bursting of firecrackers causes noise pollution and leads to health problems like respiratory distress cardiovascular issues sleep deprivation and panic among elderly persons infants patients and students.

The order also stated that loud noise from fireworks creates confusion and alarm for security forces deployed in the district which affects their operational efficiency during night hours

Referring to Supreme Court guidelines and CPCB directions the DM said such acts cause public nuisance disturb public peace and pose danger which needs immediate preventive action.

There is complete prohibition on bursting of any kind of fireworks including firecrackers aerial fireworks and series crackers in District Shopian after 10:00 PM. The order is effective immediately and will remain in force for two months unless withdrawn or extended earlier.Violation of the order will invite action under Section 223 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita 2023 and other relevant laws.

The order has been issued ex-parte due to its urgent nature and will be displayed on notice boards of the DM office and subordinate offices besides circulation through print and electronic media.(GNS)
