July 11: In its sustained drive against drug trafficking and habitual narcotics offenders, Anantnag Police has booked two repeat drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.

The detained individuals have been identified as Junaid Ahmad Mantoo, son of Aijaz Ahmad Mantoo, resident of Waghama, and Mohammad Ashraf Dar, son of Jalal Uddin Dar, resident of Tulkhan, Bijbehara. Both individuals are repeat offenders involved in multiple NDPS cases and continued to engage in illicit drug trafficking despite repeated legal action against them. Considering their persistent involvement in narcotics-related activities and the threat posed by their actions to public safety and the well-being of society, detention orders were issued under the PIT NDPS Act. Following the execution of the detention orders, both detainees have been lodged in Kot Bhalwal Jail, Jammu.

Police remains steadfast in its commitment to eradicate the drug menace from the district. Stringent legal action will continue against drug peddlers and all those involved in the illegal narcotics trade. The public is urged to continue supporting the police by sharing credible information related to drug trafficking so that a drug-free society can be achieved.
