Srinagar, Aug 22(GNS): Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of Crime Branch J&K has chargesheeted a habitual offender involved in a fake job fraud case.
In a handout to GNS, Crime Branch said EOW has filed chargesheet against Abdul Majeed Mir son of Ab Rahim Mir resident of Lashtiyal Kalaroos, Kupwara before the Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kupwara in FIR No. 18/2026 U/S 420, 468, 471 and 201 RPC.
The case was registered on a written complaint alleging that accused had cheated complainant of lakhs of rupees on the pretext of providing Government job and had given him a fake and forged appointment order purportedly issued by Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, J&K Bank.
On the basis of facts and evidence collected during investigation, allegations were found established and case was proved, it said.
Accused is a known habitual offender and is involved in 15 different criminal cases across Kashmir Valley. He was arrested on 18.07.2026 and is presently lodged in Central Jail Srinagar in connection with FIR No. 12/2026 of EOW Kashmir.
EOW has advised public to remain vigilant against such frauds and report suspicious activities to SSP EOW Kashmir or via email sspeow-kmr@jkpolice.gov.in, reads the statement.(GNS)
