GANDERBAL, AUGUST 22: The body of an 18-year-old youth from Srinagar, who was feared drowned in Nallah Sindh in Kangan, was recovered on Saturday after a two-day search operation, officials said.
The deceased has been identified as Danish Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmad Hajam, a resident of Hafiz Bagh, Dargah, Srinagar.
According to officials, the youth had gone to the river near the dumping park at Kijpara on Friday to take a bath. He subsequently went missing, prompting the launch of a search operation in the area.
The search operation was carried out by Kangan Police with the assistance of local residents. After sustained efforts, the body of the missing youth was traced and recovered on Saturday.
The body was subsequently taken for necessary medico-legal formalities.
Police have initiated further proceedings in connection with the incident.(KNC)
