Jammu, Sep 3 (GNS): Inspector General of Police, Crime Branch J&K, Sarah Rizvi along with senior police officials visited Chatroo in Kishtwar district to review ongoing investigation into alleged rape and subsequent death of a minor girl.
As per GNS, the visit comes after the case was transferred to Crime Branch following widespread public concern and demands for thorough and impartial investigation. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha had assured local representatives that the matter would be investigated comprehensively and that justice would be ensured.
During the visit, Crime Branch team reviewed progress of investigation and examined circumstances surrounding minor girl’s alleged sexual exploitation, pregnancy and subsequent death during medical treatment.
Investigators are examining sequence of events, available evidence and records, as well as alleged involvement of all persons connected with the case, to establish facts and determine responsibility in accordance with law.
The case, registered at Police Station Chatroo under relevant provisions of POCSO Act, BNS and SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, remains under investigation.
Crime Branch is conducting probe in a thorough, impartial and evidence-based manner, with all relevant aspects of the case being examined.(GNS)
