Budgam, July 22 (GNS): The district administration in Budgam on Wednesday issued an advisory for residents living along the banks of the Doodganga River, urging them to stay alert following rainfall in the upper catchment areas.
Officials told GNS that moderate rain was recorded in the higher reaches of the district, including Yousmarg and adjoining areas. The fresh spell of precipitation is likely to cause an increase in the river’s discharge.
In view of this, the administration has asked people residing close to the riverbanks to remain cautious, avoid going near the river, and move to safer places if required.
Authorities said the situation is being monitored round the clock and appealed to the public to adhere to official advisories and refrain from spreading unverified information.
“People are urged to stay away from the river and extend full cooperation to the administration to ensure public safety,” an official spokesperson said. (GNS)
