Srinagar, Sep 21 (GNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly was adjourned till tomorrow morning after protest by the Opposition over several issues including NHM employees, outsourcing of jobs and electricity crisis.
The Day 1 of the 7-sitting Autumn Session had begun at 10:00 AM with obituary references, as per GNS.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather made obituary references to the sad demise of three former ministers — Dr Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Dharam Paul and Ghulam Hassan Khan — who passed away during the inter-session period. The House observed two-minute silence.
Soon after Question Hour began, Opposition members stood up and raised slogans over regularization of NHM employees, alleged outsourcing of jobs to outsiders and hike in power Tarrif.
Despite Speaker’s repeated requests to maintain order and allow Question Hour, noisy scenes continued, forcing the Chair to adjourn the House for the day. The House will now meet at 10:00 AM tomorrow.
Tomorrow — September 22 — has been reserved for Government Business as per the provisional calendar issued by the Assembly Secretariat.(GNS)
