Kulgam, July 21: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Tuesday said that the entire administrative machinery across the Kashmir Valley has been placed on high alert in view of the prevailing weather conditions, with all control rooms functioning round the clock to monitor the situation and ensure prompt response to any emergency.

Speaking to reporters in Kulgam, Garg said every government department has been directed to remain vigilant and fully prepared to tackle any weather-related eventuality. He added that district administrations, emergency services, disaster management teams and other concerned agencies have been instructed to maintain close coordination to safeguard public life and property.

Referring to the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra, the Divisional Commissioner said that all decisions concerning the movement and conduct of the annual pilgrimage will be taken strictly on the basis of weather advisories issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

He emphasized that the safety and well-being of pilgrims remain the administration’s highest priority and assured that no decision regarding the Yatra would be taken without carefully assessing the prevailing weather conditions and official forecasts.

Garg further appealed to the public and pilgrims to follow official advisories and avoid paying attention to rumours, stating that the administration is continuously monitoring the situation and will issue timely updates whenever necessary.KNC)
