Baramulla Police Seizes 4 Tractors Used in Illegal Extraction of Minerals

Baramulla, May 18: (GNS) Baramulla police on Tuesday said to have seized four tractors used in illegal extraction of minerals amid ongoing lockdown. It has in the meantime also realized fine from forty-six persons, including shopkeepers, for venturing out unnecessarily and resorting to business activities despite strict restrictions already in place.

A statement received by news agency Global News Service (GNS) says that four tractors were seized after a team found the illegal extraction of minerals by some unscrupulous elements in the district. The violators, as per the statement, had been taking undue advantage of lockdown to the detriment of people health, the ecology and the revenue of the government.

In the meantime in an action undertaken a team found several shops open in Kreeri area following which four cases against the shopkeepers on charges of violating instructions and running their business unnecessarily were registered, it says.

Meanwhile Police Stations including Kreeri, Tangmarg, Kunzer, Boniyar, Pattan, Police Post Kungamdara, Mirgund and Babareshi, the teams seized two motorcycles and realized fine from 46 persons for violating instructions and plying vehicles unnecessarily on roads.

Baramulla Police has urged general populace of district to stay inside as far as possible, and venture only if it is absolutely necessary. (GNS)
