Poonch, Aug 22(GNS): A 55-year-old man was critically injured after being attacked by a wild bear in Surankote area of Poonch district on Saturday.
The injured has been identified as Nazir Ahmed, son of Abdullah, resident of Fazalabad Nar, Surankote, age 55 years.
Reports reaching GNS said the incident occurred today when the victim was present in his native area and was suddenly attacked by a bear, resulting in massive injuries on his face.
Locals immediately rushed him to Sub-District Hospital Surankote for treatment.
Block Medical Officer Surankote Dr. Mohd Yousaf Choudhary confirmed the incident to GNS, saying the injured person has suffered grievous facial injuries and is under treatment.
Meanwhile, locals have urged the Wildlife Department to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the area.(GNS)
