SHOPIAN: A wild bear attacked and injured three women at Batfujan village in Shopian district on Wednesday, officials said.
The injured have been identified as Maroofa Akhter, daughter of Mohammad Iqbal; Firdoosa Akhter, wife of Mohammad Mustafa; and Nusrat Gulzar, daughter of Gulzar Ahmad, all residents of Batfujan village of Shopian.
According to officials, the women sustained injuries in the bear attack and were shifted to a hospital for medical treatment. Their condition was not immediately available.
The incident triggered concern among residents of the area, particularly over the movement of the wild animal in the locality. The Police Control Room (PCR) informed the Wildlife Department about the incident so that necessary measures could be taken, officials said.
