Srinagar, Sep 29 (GNS): BJP legislators on Tuesday staged a walkout from the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly in protest against the statehood resolution moved by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah.
Shouting slogans against the government and the Chair, as per GNS the BJP MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma walked out of the House soon after the resolution was taken up, alleging that the resolution was unconstitutional and that the Speaker was acting in a partisan manner.
Earlier in the House, LoP Sunil Sharma once again raked up the issue of removal of the Speaker.
In reply, Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather asserted his authority and said he knows his powers.
“I know my powers, I have already told you yesterday about the procedure and don’t teach me,” the Speaker told the LoP.
“Hooliganism will not work here,” the Speaker added.
It is in place to mention that yesterday BJP had served a notice seeking removal of the Speaker and raised slogans “Kursi Chhodo Kursi Chhodo Speaker Sahab” inside the House.(GNS)
