Anantnag, October 04: A carpenter was killed and another person injured after the two reportedly fell from the rooftop of a mosque while carrying out work in the Bijbehara area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday.
According to officials, the incident occurred at Hamam Masjid in Bijbehara when the two men were engaged in carpentry work on the rooftop. They reportedly slipped accidentally and fell from the building, sustaining serious injuries.
Following the incident, both injured persons were rushed to Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag for treatment. However, one of them succumbed to his injuries at the hospital despite medical efforts.
The deceased has been identified as Javaid Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan, a resident of Hassanpora, Bijbehara.
The injured person has been identified as Shab-ul-Islam Ganai, son of Mohammad Jamaal Ganai, also a resident of Hassanpora, Bijbehara. He is currently undergoing treatment.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal fall.(KNC)
