Ganderbal, July 27 (KNC): Three persons lost their lives while another woman was shifted to SKIMS Soura for specialised treatment in four separate incidents reported from different parts of central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district during the past 24 hours, officials said on Monday.

According to officials, Altaf Ahmad Khattana, a resident of Bagh Patti Surfraw, Kangan, succumbed to injuries at SKIMS Soura on Monday, a day after he sustained critical injuries in a motorcycle accident.

Officials said the accident occurred on the Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumri (SSG) Road near Sumbalbala Gund when his motorcycle allegedly skidded off the road and overturned. He was initially taken to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Kangan and later referred to SKIMS Soura, where he breathed his last despite efforts by doctors.

In another tragic incident, an elderly woman identified as Hajra, wife of Abdul Ahad Reshi of Reshipora, lost her life after she was struck by a JCB machine in the Badarkund area of Ganderbal.

She was immediately rushed to District Hospital Ganderbal in a critical condition, where doctors declared her brought dead.

Meanwhile, a woman was found dead inside her residence in the Bobsipora area on Monday. Officials said she was found hanging and shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Her identity has not been disclosed, and police have initiated inquest proceedings to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the death.

In a separate incident, a young woman from Kangan was admitted to SDH Kangan after allegedly consuming a poisonous substance at her residence.

After receiving preliminary treatment, she was referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced medical care. Her condition was not immediately known.

Police have registered separate cases in all four incidents and initiated legal proceedings. Although unrelated, the incidents occurred within a short span, making it one of the most tragic 24-hour periods witnessed in Ganderbal district in recent days.(KNC)
