Srinagar, Oct 20 (GNS): In a significant decision for medical trainees in Jammu and Kashmir, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has approved a substantial hike in the monthly stipend for MBBS and BDS interns, from Rs 12,300 to Rs 25,000.

The revision marks an increase of Rs 12,700 per month.

The support of Health and Medical Education Minister Ms. Sakina Itoo in addressing the concerns of medical interns has come into focus following the approval.

The Health Department has been directed to issue necessary orders in this regard immediately.

The decision is being seen as a major relief for medical and dental interns across J&K and a step towards strengthening support for medical education and addressing the financial concerns of healthcare trainees.(GNS)
