Government on Wednesday ordered the closure of all government and private schools, colleges and universities across Jammu and Kashmir amid growing scare about coronavirus.

Addressing a presser, Director NHM Bhupinder Kumar, however announced that examinations shall be conducted by the authorities as per schedule.

According to GNS, Kumar also urged people to avoid unnecessary travel and use of public transport.

The decision comes amid a controversy of sorts between Mayor Srinagar Junaid Mattu and Divisional Commissioner Baseer Khan. While Mattu had ordered on his own closure of schools within SMC limits, the Divisional Commissioner stressed that it was within the domain of government to decide closing or keeping open the educational institutions.
