As part of the sentence, the court imposed a fine of ₹19.07 lakh and directed that the amount be paid as compensation to M/s Kissan Flour Mills, Jammu, along with simple interest at the rate of 6 per cent per annum from the date of the judgment. According to the case, the complaint was filed after seven cheques issued by the accused, collectively amounting to ₹19.07 lakh, were dishonoured by the bank with the endorsement “Exceeds Arrangements.”
Following the dishonour of the cheques, proceedings were initiated against the accused under Section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act.
Court Rejects Accused’s Defence
