Srinagar, April 3 (GNS): Government forces continued search operation for the third running day Friday along the Line of Control (LoC) in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

Reports reaching GNS said that the army’s 8 JAT carried out searches in the forest area of “Guguldara Teen Behak” in Jumgund to trace a group of militants who are believed to have sneaked into this side after engaging soldiers in a gunfight which continued sporadically at least twice on Wednesday.

According to reports, choppers were also seen hovering over the forest area to track down the militants.

Besides, sources said, the searches were also resumed along Awaoora, Kumkadi, Zurhuma, Safawali, Batpora, Haihama areas by the joint team of army’s 41 RR, 57 RR, 160 TA and SOG Kupwara.

A police officer told GNS that the search operation was resumed today after a brief suspension caused by snowfall on Thursday. He said no contact has been established till now with the militants believed to be hiding in the forest area.

According to army, some recoveries have been made during the ongoing operation. (GNS)
