Constitutes Monitoring Committees to Check Illegal Sand/Soil Extraction

Baramulla, April 08 (GNS): In a major crack down on illegal extraction of sand and soil in the district Baramulla, Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dr G N Itoo, today constituted local level Monitoring committees as a move to check the menace. The committees have been constituted after some complaints regarding the illegal extraction of soil and sand, were reported in the wake of COVID-19 lockdown.

The committees will have BDC chairpersons as the head with Panch or Sarpanch, as the case may be, Village level worker, Numberbar and Chowkidar as the members.

The committee will be responsible for identifying the persons involved in such practices and to take suo moto cognizance of the complaints wherever received and inform the Police, Revenue and Irrigation and Flood Control authorities in their respective areas. The members of the committee will also be personally responsible for any kind of illegal activity on account of soil and sand extraction.

However, helpline numbers can also be used to share any kind of related input, which are Executive Engineer, Irrigation and FC, Baramulla (9419024631/7006576983), Executive Engineer Irrigation and FC Sopore (9622928525), Executive Engineer FBI Division, Tangmarg (7006829968) and Executive Engineer, Hydraulic, Uri (9419463207).
