October 14: In its sustained efforts to curb drug trafficking and eradicate the menace of narcotics from society, Police in Handwara recovered charas-like substance from a motorcycle rider during naka checking at Batpora Crossing.
During naka checking, a police party of Police Post Langate intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number DL6SZ 0648, travelling from Yaroo towards Langate. During the personal search of the rider, Charas-like substance were recovered from the accused rider. The accused rider was identified as Ashiq Hussain Mir son of Ab Gabi Mir resident of Astanpora, Langate.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 257/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Handwara, and further investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the facts and circumstances of the case.
Police reiterates its firm commitment to combating drug trafficking and appeals to the general public to cooperate with the police and share credible information regarding drug-related activities to help build a drug-free.
