Kupwara, Apr 1: (GNS) Police in Kupwara have arrested an alleged drug-peddler at Kralpora area of the district on Thursday.
A police official told GNS that, the person was intercepted during a naka established at Rationpora Kralpora area during checking of vehicles and searching of pedestrians.
On drawing suspicious, the police team tactfully apprehended a person after he tried to escape the spot.
Identifying the alleged person as one Liyaqat Khathana a resident of Kundayan Keran, the official said that on searches 500 grams of Brown Sugar were recovered from his possession.
“A case FIR number 14/21 under section 8/21 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Kralpora and further investigations taken up”, the official said.
“The act has been hugely hailed by general public of the area.”
