GDC Kastigarh and GDC Doda sign historic MoU to strengthen academic collaboration

Srinagar, Dec 23: Director School Education Kashmir Naseer Ahmad Wani on Tuesday stressed the need for data driven academic reforms to improve learning outcomes across schools while addressing a dissemination workshop of the PARAKH Rashtriya Sarvekshan 2024 report held in Baramulla district.

An official statement said the PARAKH assessment framework, introduced under the National Education Policy 2020, offers critical insights into student learning levels and classroom practices. While Baramulla district recorded encouraging participation in PRS 2024, the findings point to persistent gaps in foundational literacy and numeracy, particularly in mathematics and application based learning.

Addressing the gathering, the DSEK, as per GNS, described PARAKH as a key shift from rote learning to competency based and outcome oriented education. He said assessment findings must translate into concrete classroom level reforms to ensure measurable academic progress for every student.

He said the assessment data provides a clear picture of classroom realities and called upon educators and administrators to convert insights into targeted academic action.

An interactive session in which the DSEK directly engaged with teachers and heads of institutions at the workshop. He listened to their experiences, concerns and suggestions related to teaching practices and academic challenges. The initiative was widely appreciated by the teaching fraternity as a step towards participatory and responsive academic planning.

The Director also outlined the future academic roadmap, including preparations for the Foundational Learning Skills Assessment 2026 and PRS 2027. He urged officers and institutions to utilise the winter break for structured academic planning in line with the Directorate’s academic calendar.

The workshop was attended by Joint Director School Education North Hakeem Tanveer, Chief Education Officer Baramulla Abdul Rashid Mir, Deputy CEO Iftikhar Ahmad, Nodal Officer PARAKH J and K Ghulam Hassan Reshi, and other field level officers and school heads.

The programme concluded with a call for coordinated and sustained efforts to strengthen classroom learning and improve overall education standards in Jammu and Kashmir. (GNS)
