Srinagar: A bank manager of Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB), alleged of embezzlement, has turned a ‘potential fugitive’, reliable sources said.
The sources said that the branch manager Ellaquai Dehati Bank (ED-B) at Lurgam in Tral Pulwama has seemingly turned fugitive, as he is nowhere to be located for last several days now.
“The concerns have consolidated more so as the bank manager, namely Meraj Alam, son of Nazir Ahmad, a resident of Bihar, has a case pending against him vide FIR number 13/2024 under section 409 IPC for tempering with signatures of accounts holders of the bank branch,” the sources said.
“The accused is accused of embezzlement of rupees thirty-three lac.”
It has been in the meantime learnt that the law enforcement agencies have launched a manhunt to look for whereabouts of the missing bank official.
