Poonch, Sep 08 (GNS): A four-year-old girl died allegedly due to wrong injection administered at a private medical shop in Mendhar area of Poonch district, with family demanding strict legal action and impartial probe.

The deceased has been identified as Aaira Kouser, daughter of Imtiaz Ahmed and Tahira Kouser, resident of Panchayat Upper Uchhad, Block Mankote, Tehsil Mankote in Mendhar.

Family alleged that the child developed severe swelling throughout her body after receiving glucose and an injection at Uzain Medical Hall, Uchhad.

Following deterioration in her condition, she was shifted from Uchhad to Sub District Hospital Mendhar, from where she was referred to GMC Rajouri and subsequently to GMC Jammu, where she passed away.

The bereaved family has alleged medical negligence and claimed that death occurred due to wrong injection. They have demanded immediate, impartial and expert medical investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death.

When contacted, Chief Medical Officer Poonch Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad Khan told GNS, “Medical shops come under control of Drug Authority. Drug Inspector is asked to take necessary action.”(GNS)
