Srinagar, Jan 28: The Government of Jammu and Kashmir has ordered a detailed enquiry into the circumstances and events that led to the circulation of videos on social media platforms in connection with Government Medical College (GMC), Udhampur, on January 27, 2026.

As per Government Order No. 67-JK (HME) of 2026, dated January 28 as per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, sanction has been accorded to the appointment of Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Gupta, Principal, Government Medical College, Jammu, as the Inquiry Officer to probe the matter.

According to the order, the inquiry will examine the sequence of events and look into the administrative, security and institutional aspects related to the incident(s) at GMC Udhampur that resulted in the circulation of the videos on social media.

The Inquiry Officer has been directed to submit a reasoned and comprehensive report within 15 days from the date of issuance of the order. —(KNC)
