October 09: J&K Police solved a theft case involving a scooty stolen from Model Town, Sopore, arrested the accused and recovered the stolen vehicle from Magam, Budgam, following sustained investigation.
On 04-10-2026, Police Post Bus Stand Sopore received a written complaint from Zahoor Maqbool Wani son of Mohammad Maqbool Wani resident of Noor Bagh, Sopore, stating therein that his scooty bearing Registration No. JK15-2464 had been stolen from Model Town, Sopore. Accordingly, FIR No. 253/2026 under Section 303(2) BNS was registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation was taken up.
During the course of investigation, Police conducted extensive CCTV analysis and technical investigation, examining footage from multiple location. These sustained efforts led to the identification of a suspect, who was subsequently traced and questioned. Based on the evidence collected and further investigative leads, the accused, identified as Rouf Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Samad Ganie resident of Agri Kalan, Magam, Budgam, was apprehended. The stolen scooty was recovered from Agri Kalan, Magam, and seized in accordance with due legal procedure. Further investigation in the case is underway.
