Jammu, May 25: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a Junior Assistant posted in the office of the Superintending Engineer, PHE Mechanical Urban Circle, Narwal Jammu, for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 4,500.
According to officials, the CBI registered the case on May 24 following a complaint alleging that the accused demanded money for processing and clearing a pension case. The accused had reportedly shared a QR code via WhatsApp to receive the bribe amount digitally.
The agency laid a trap and caught the accused while allegedly receiving the bribe through the QR code transaction. The Junior Assistant was subsequently arrested on May 25.
CBI said further investigation into the case is underway.(KNC)
