Jammu, Aug 25 (GNS): At least one labourer was killed and three others sustained injuries after a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed in Jakh area of Samba district on Tuesday.
Officials told GNS that the incident occurred when a slab of the bridge being constructed at Jakh suddenly caved in, trapping workers engaged at the site.
Soon after the incident, locals and police teams launched a rescue operation. One labourer died on the spot while three others were rescued in injured condition and immediately shifted to a nearby hospital where their condition is stated to be stable.
Police have taken cognizance of the incident and started investigation to ascertain the cause of collapse.
